HIMMAPAN POP
(2017)
*commissioned by The National Museum of Thailand
"Himmapan Pop" is a magnetic brooch; two brand logos merged into one, each representing a Himmapan creature. These brooches are positioned on the wearer's chest, in the same position as what we normally see in a clothing label.
These animals are actually mythical creatures that dwell in the legendary Himmapan Forest. Each individual Himmapan creature has its own character and a role to play in literature and culture. Himmapan creatures are often described as "combined-animals", for example, a horse with a bird's head, a man with a lion body, etc. They reflect the society of their day.
To me, all capitalist brands are pretty much created to serve the same function. They aim to represent certain values, culture, and personalities. They reflect today's society.
